Kennel Club Bronze Award

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Bronze Award aims to produce a dog that will walk and  behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow its  owner to clean, groom and inspect it, a dog that will walk and behave in a happy natural manner,  under control on the lead. The dog must also be able to be positioned by its handler for inspection  i.e. stand, sit or lie down on either side or on its back, all on the lead. The dog must come to hand when called.  The Bronze award aims to provide the handlers with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their canine  companion.

What we aim to achieve at Bronze Level

Enrolment can take place after your dog has had all vaccinations and microchipped.  This programme is for dogs over the age of 12 months or have completed Puppy Foundation.

This award level is assessed by the a qualified Kennel Club Accessor.  Once the dog is completing all exercises  confidently and consistently, then their trainer will put them forward for Assessment.

On completion of the course and Assessment, all dogs will received a certification of completion and rosette.  The dog will then be moved up to the next stage of Silver Award.

In Training Jacket and Identification Badges

On completion of the Bronze level, all our handlers who are on our Assistance programme are entitled to lease a jacket and ID badge with our logos to help start gaining public access.  These jackets state the dog is 'IN TRAINING'.  We ask all our handlers to start very slowly with gaining public access and they MUST ask permission from the establishments and state the dog is in training not fully trained before entering.  All dogs who have jackets and ID badges must be actively training and if for whatever reason they decide to leave the programme then the equipment must be returned and your deposit will be reimbursed.
